The flood situation in the state remained grim with the official death toll moving up to 38 and the calamity inflicting damage on 118719 dwelling houses.
As many as 197 villages still remain marooned with the state government evacuating 0.28 million people. Three million people of 4,317 villages in 96 blocks and 20 urban local bodies have been affected by the current flood.
The flood has affected 289,115 hectares of crop area while the livestorck casualty has been pegged at 391. The state government is running 76 free kitchen centres, benefiting 32,179 people. More than 1,200 boats have been pressed into service for rescue and relief operations.
On Saturday, the state government had extended the relief operation in the flood hit areas for another seven days. It has directed all district collectors to submit detailed reports on flood damage by September 20 as a Central team is scheduled to visit the flood hit regions of the state soon.
