Finance Minister P Chidambaram will attend the crucial annual general meeting of the International Monetary Authority and World Bank in Washington on October 13.
Chidambaram is scheduled to leave for Washington on Thursday afternoon. A high-level Indian delegation including Reserve Bank of India Governor Duvvuri Subbarao has already left for Washington on Tuesday. The other members of the delegation are Economic Affairs Secretary Ashok Chawla, Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Virmani and Joint Secreatry (fund bank) M Prasad.
Besides the annual meeting on October 13, Chidambaram is also scheduled to attend a G-4 meeting (Brazil, China, India, South Africa) on October 10 and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) finance ministers meeting on October 11.
