The actual subsidy required to run the ambitious Food Security Act in 2012-2013 would be somewhere around Rs 112,000 crore, almost Rs 37,000 crore more than the 2012-2013 Budget estimate of Rs 75,000 crore, food minister K V Thomas said on Monday. The Budget had pegged the annual food subsidy at three per cent more than the revised estimate of 2011-2012 of Rs 72,823 crore.
