Fortis Healthcare, which has completed ten years since the opening of its first hospital at Mohali, has announced a slew of social initiatives to commemmorate the occasion.
According to a company release, the theme of the initiative is "giving back to the community".
The healthcare chain will offer ten free surgeries at each network hospital, which will add up to approximately 500 surgeries in an year. It will also launch a nationwide "Mother & Child" programme for the poor and economically-challenged sections of the society, under the aegis of the Fortis Foundation.
"This initiative will support the government efforts to improve infant and maternal mortality rates and specifically, increase socieatal awareness to alleviate the issued faced by the girl child, thereby contributing to an improvement in the overall girl child ratio," said the release.
It will also set up a second brand of hospitals, dedicated to bringing affordable and quality healthcare to the masses of semi-urban India, specifically, for Tier II and Tier III towns, with a target of 25 hospitals in three years.
