However, the release of payment amounting to Rs 33 lakh to one specific contractor has raised heckles as the issue of political influence leading for the fund release has been raised.
A big agency backed by a political party has been able to get its Rs 33 lakh dues despite the shoddy work carried out by them.
According to Rajkot municipal commissioner Pankaj Joshi, this payment of Rs 33 lakh has been done as per rules.
The chairman of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation standing committee has also stated that the payment was released as per the ADB rules.
He said the deposit money of the contractor has been lying with the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and this money can be forfeited if required.
The Rajkot Mayor has also said that investigation in the matter is on but no political role play has been observed.
