G-8 meet: India to argue growth key to protect climate

India would argue that faster economic growth and development of poorer nations was the best way of preserving the environment and protecting climate at the G-8 meeting, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said.

"More and not less development is the best way for developing countries" to protect climate, Singh said before departing for Germany, where the G-8 meeting will start today and end on June 8.
