The Rs 4,600 crore MoU signed between the Gujarat Hira Bourse (GHB) and the state government was the highest deal of the day. GHB is promoted by the Surat diamond cutting and polishing industry.
This deal is for the setting up of a jewellery park in Surat. The park envisages setting up of 200 export-oriented units at Rs 3,000 crore in the special economic zone (SEZ), while 300 units will be set up in the domestic market for Rs 1,500 crore.
GHB has earmaked Rs 100 crore for the development of a training centre and a research and development centre. The state government will provide land at a reasonable cost for the park.
The remaining MoUs include the Rs 3,000 crore deal signed between the South Gujarat Texturisers Association and the government for the modernisation of member units.
Another MoU worth Rs 2,500 crore was signed between the South Gujarat Processors Association and the Gujarat government.
The third deal of Rs 105 crore was between the Gujarat government and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry for setting up of a trade centre in Surat.
Group Ashima and associates have signed a MoU worth Rs 500 crore for setting up an industrial park.
