Modernising the educational system and making the education more practical oriented and flexible is the need of the hour.

Towards this goal the Gujarat Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) will organise a workshop on education 'Gujarat of my dream - Road ahead for education' here on April 15 (Friday).

Already, states such as West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharastra are changing their educational system to make it truly of international standards.

Chinubhai Shah president, GCCI said, "Gujarat is also thinking of the changes in the state education system. To modernise the education, we have invited many educationalists and intellectuals to debate on whether Gujarat education system need to be changed in the coming years."

"Foundation of every state is the education of its youth and Gujarat should take continuous steps in the right direction for the development of State," Shah added.

The workshop will discuss on the merit and demerits of the grading system and will deliberate on whether to implement them in the state.

"In fact, grading system is not a bad idea. This might decrease the cut-throat competition in students and may bring down suicide cases in the state," opined Shah.
