Various industrial estates in the state have complained that the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) has imposed a power cut for the past week without even informing them in advance.
The industries, which have to fulfil domestic and export commitments, said they are suffering a setback because of the power cut that has been effected in all industrial estates.
There are about 250 industrial estates spread across the state, and while the bigger units have in-house power generating facilities, a majority of the units, especially small and medium enterprises, depend on the GEB for their power requirements.
The state government has resorted to a power cut for industries because of a shortfall of 500 MW of electricity.
