The Economy Ministry says it will not approve any new arms exports to Egypt over concerns about the human rights' situation there amid anti-government protests.
The ministry said in a statement today that the suspension was effective until further notice. It says it is also reviewing whether to take action on arms shipments that have already been approved.
Germany prohibits arms exports to countries where there are allegations of human rights violations.
The Economy Ministry says Germany exported euro 22 million in weapons to Egypt in 2010, down from euro 77.5 million in 2009.
