Sport Minister M S Gill today expressed pleasure at the Union Budget which has Rs 3,073 crore earmarked for sports and youth affairs for the fiscal 2009-10.
The Budget for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been increased by Rs 1,480 crore than what was proposed in the interim Budget presented before the Lok Sabha elections.
"I am happy with the budget. The FM is continuing to provide full support to the CWG and to landmark 11th plan scheme for promotion of sports in rural India, PYKKA," he said in a statement.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee also proposed to increase the allocation for the 2010 CWG from Rs 2,112 crore in the interim budget to Rs 3,472 crore.
