Several heads of nations today warned about the worsening global employment situation and the likely social catastrophe — stemming from the ongoing economic crisis. They called for a global jobs pact to avoid tit-for-tat immigration and other economic restrictions.
Congregating at the annual International Labor Assembly, a tripartite meeting of the employers, trade unions and governments, Brazil’s president Luiz Inacio da Silva launched a broadside for what he called a concerted transfer of the economic crisis created by the Wall Street to the “weak and poor countries”.
