Governor unfurls tri-colour amid tight security in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 26 (PTI) Amid a tight security net, Republic Day was celebrated across Tripura with enthusiasm showcasing state's rich culture and economic progress.  

Governor D Y Patil, who unfurled the tri-colour at the Assam Rifles ground in the state capital and took salute of an impressive parade, said Tripura was marching ahead for development and uplift of the people.  

"It is a matter of satisfaction that investment friendly policies of the state government are now attracting entrepreneurs from other parts of the country to set up their manufacturing and service units," the governor said.  

The state Government is putting efforts in providing basic amenities to the people as well as in maintaining financial discipline, he said adding the state achieved rice productivity higher than the national average.  

Various cultural groups performed in the ground showcasing the culture of different tribes of the state.  A thick security blanket was thrown throughout the state and an alert has been sounded along the 856 km long porous Indo-Bangla border of the state to keep the Republic Day free from any untoward incident.
