The government today cleared 15 highway projects totaling Rs 15,560 crore to be build under the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode in eleven states.
The Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC), chaired by Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla, approved the projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, an official statement said.
The projects cleared include Rs 2,078 crore project for 4/6-laning of a section of NH 17 in Goa under Build Operate Transfer (BOT) basis, Rs 1,724 crore 6-laning project on Pune-Satara section of NH 4 in Maharashtra on BOT (Toll) basis and Rs 805 crore project for 6-laning of Samakhiali-Gandhidham section of NH 8A in Gujarat.
The remaining projects fall in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
"Since its constitution in January 2006, PPPAC has granted approval to 116 projects, with an estimated project cost of Rs 1,15,228.91 crore," the statement said.
These include 103 highways, 9 port projects, 2 airport projects and one each infrastructure and railway projects.
