The West Bengal government on Saturday discussed the pending project of JSW's Bengal steel plant with company officials and urged them to expedite the progress.

Industry minister Partha Chatterjee, industry secretary Dipankar Mukherjee and WBIDC managing director Nandini Chakraborty met JSW officials and urged them to plug all information gaps between the company and the government.

“We told them to provide all the information to the government so that the progress of the project is expedited,” Chatterjee told reporters after the meeting.

JSW Bengal Steel was represented by its CEO Biswadip Gupta and other officials.

The minister also said that company has been asked to include all different agreements under an umbrella pact.

“They will also have to give details of problem regarding land,” he said.

The government has also urged the company to comply with all the commitments made during the announcement of the project. JSW Bengal has proposed to set up a three million steel plant at Salboni in the first phase.
