The Government is likely to finalise the framework for the proposed Unified Licencing (UL) regime within the next one month.

R Chandrashekhar, the outgoing secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) today said, “The UL documents need legal screening. It should take around one month.”

With the new UL regime, telecom companies will be able to offer all services that existing licences permit and will be able to share spectrum as well as telecom infrastructure which was not permitted in the earlier licencing norms.
