The government is likely to re-introduce the transport and marketing assistance (TMA) scheme for the next two-three years, to support farm exporters at a time when exporters are grappling with challenges such as high freight costs and container shortage.

A person aware of the matter said that the decision was taken in a meeting on ‘export logistics Issues and their resolution’, where Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel, and railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav were also present. “A notification is expected soon,” the official cited above said. "Other measures to deal with the issue of container shortage were also discussed. It's an ongoing process," another official said.
