Govt medical teachers to retire at 65

Such CHS officers who are occupying administrative positions would have the option of seeking appointment to teaching positions in case they wish to continue up to 65 years. The facility would be extended to medical teaching faculties in institutions like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Chandigarh, School of Tropical Medicines, Kolkata, and some institutions in the north-east, Dasmunsi added.

The Union Cabinet also approved:

n Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement with Myanmar and its ratification. The agreement will help increase investment flow between the neighbours and promote investor interest. Initially, the agreement would be implemented for a period of 10 years.

n Additional central assistance for Arunachal Pradesh to carry out reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by natural calamities during 2005. Out of the Rs 399.20 crore required for the long-term reconstruction plan, the Centre would give a grant of Rs 359.28 crore to the north-eastern state which on its would raise a loan component of Rs 39.92 crore. The net grant of the assistance would be released in two equal instalments.

n Formation of a joint venture company by Engineers India Ltd (EIL) with Tecnimont SPA, Italy, with a registered office in Portugal by authorising EIL to make its share of investment of 30 per cent equity participation of the authorised share capital of the joint venture.

n Nod to deepening of the channel and basin at Tuticorin port to cater to 12.80 metre draught vessels.
