Govt mulls equal opportunities panelBS Reporter / New Delhi August 31, 2007The government today tabled the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the recommendations of the Sachar Committee Report in Parliament saying that the Centre had in principle agreed to an Equal Opportunities Commission to look into grievances of discrimination against Muslims. The ATR has also said that the government has issued guidelines to ensure that Muslims have easy access to credit.The Sachar Committee had been set up to get an idea about the social, educational and economic status of Muslims in India. No mention of reservations for Muslims in government jobs was however made.Tabling the statement in Lok Sabha, Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay hailed the move saying
