The central government would consider changing Sino-India border trade through Nathula in Sikkim into an open exchange to help northern part of West Bengal get benefits of export and import between the two countries, Union minister of state for commerce Jairam Ramesh said today.To make it an open trade, the West Bengal government officials and members of the chamber would be involved as desired by the state chief minister, Ramesh said at a meeting of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of North Bengal (FOCIN).If everything remains normal and the open trade became a reality, the number of items for export and import with China would also increase, the minister said.Ramesh had also assured to open Fulbari, on Siliguri-Jalpaiguri road, as a trade route to Bangladesh which was a long standing demand of the Federation and businessmen in the region, Biswajit Das, general secretary of FOCIN, said.The works for infrustructure development at Fulbari would start soon, Das said quoting the minister.
