Govt nod for NHAI mgmt restructuringBS Reporter / New Delhi July 20, 2007The government has given its nod for the restructuring of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).Under the restructuring, the selection of the chairman will be done by a search committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary, comprising Secretary, Department of Road Transport and Highways, Planning Commission secretary and other senior government officials, including one of the directors of IIMs to be nominated by the Cabinet Secretary.The tenure of the chairman will be fixed for at least three years, which could be extended to five years. Age, in case of the chairman, could be relaxed upto 62 years, if required, for a three-year tenure, Information and Broadcasting Minister PR Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.As per the restructuring exercise, NHAI will have six full time members (against five at present)
