The government is considering a proposal that could see participation of the corporate sector in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the country.Disclosing this at an official meeting here on Monday, Minister for Culture and Tourism Ambika Soni said the proposal envisages 100% tax rebate for contributions of corporates for the proposed National Cultural Fund.Soni, while addressing the 33rd meeting of the central advisory board of archaeology, said she wanted active participation of the corporates in the preservation of sites and monuments. The tourism ministry had also proposed setting up of National Heritage Site Commission for identification of the heritage structures across the country.She said that the National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities had started work on documenting monuments and antiquities spread across India. The mission would be completed within five years, she added.The aim of the mission was to create a GIS-based data at the regional as well as national level, which can be accessed by the common public and scholars.
