A Group of Ministers was today set up to look into all aspects - production to pricing - of gas, even as the government said end to the pricing row of gas from Reliance Industries' east coast fields was a month away. The GoM, headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, would decide on production, utilisation, transportation and pricing of gas."We are very seriously ingrained in the whole issue of pricing of gas to be produced from newer areas, particularly in the deep sea. Consultations are on and I hope the issue will be resolved in next 15 days... May be one month at the best," Petroleum Minister Murli Deora told reporters here.A Committee of Secretaries is already looking into the issue and is expected to present its views shortly."Presentations by gas producer and consuming side have all been completed. Now, they (panel)... Will present a view to us shortly," Deora said. His statement came after Anil Ambani, who is leading the campaign against the price formula proposed by RIL, held a host of meetings with top government officials today.Within days of Mukesh presenting his firms case for pricing gas at USD 4.33 per mBtu, Anil was also supposed to have lunch with Deora but the meeting did not take place.Anil met Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Revenue and Expenditure Secretaries to press for lowering the RIL gas price to make it affordable to power and fertiliser units.Anil's meetings, the second in as many weeks, follows meetings Mukesh had with these officials and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister T K A Nair on July 10.
