The government will lend Rs 607 crore to public sector enterprises in 2009-10, less than the loan allocation for such entities in the current fiscal year.
The government would be offering loans worth Rs 606.60 crore in the next fiscal to PSEs as against Rs 763.18 crore in 2008-09.
In the current fiscal, the total amount of loans for PSEs exceeded the budgetary allocation by nearly Rs 90 crore. Earlier, the budget amount for PSEs stood at Rs 673.48 crore.
Out of the total Rs 606.60 crore loans announced for PSEs in the Interim Budget today, the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises would be shelling out Rs 400 crore while the Textiles Ministry would give Rs 140.50 crore.
The Textiles Ministry has allocated loans to the tune of Rs 324.19 crore in 2008-09.
Meanwhile, the Defence Ministry would lend Rs 37 crore to Mishra Dhatu Nigam in 2009-10 against just Rs 9 crore in the current fiscal.
The Chemicals and Fertilisers Ministry would be lending Rs 1.23 crore in the next fiscal year compared to Rs 6.74 crore in 2008-09.
