The West Bengal government would notify within a week the early separation scheme (ESS)for all the 450 permanent and contractual workers of Great Eastern Hotel. |
At a meeting held at the state Secretariat here today, its board approved the ESS which would remain open for a period of one month. |

Chief executive of the hotel J Bag told PTI that representatives of the INTUC-affiliated Great Eastern Hotel Staff Association and Great Eastern Hotel Employees Union owing allegiance to Citu today met the chairman of the board, principal secretary of tourism department Tapan Kr Barman. |

When contacted, state INTUC leader Subrata Mukherjee said "we are not going to accept the ESS offer". |

"The hotel management is forcing all the staff and employees to apply for the ESS", he added. |

State Citu leadership, however, would not oppose the scheme. West Bengal Citu president Shyamal Chakraborty said "We are not opposing the offer, but have asked the management to discuss the matter with the employees". |
