Govt to raise salaries of President, vice-president, state governors

Manmohan Singh government today decided to further raise the salaries of the President, vice-president and the state governors. The cabinet committee on economic affairs today approved to hike President’s emoluments to Rs 1.50 lakh. Vice President’s salary have been increased to Rs 1.25 lakh while the governors will enjoy an enhanced pay-packet of Rs 1.10 lakh. 

This is the second time in this year that these salaries have been revised. In January, the President’s salary was doubled from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The vice-president’s pay packet was also enhanced to Rs 85,000 per month from Rs 40,000. Likewise, the salary of Governors had been raised from Rs 36,000 a month to Rs 75,000 eight months ago.
