The Department of Information Technology, Government of India, will avail of consultancy services of premier mangement schools like the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon for assessing its e-governance projects. |
The management institutes will be the third party project leaders and validators of government projects functional for a period of at least one year. |

The department has identified 200 to 300 e-governance projects for external evaluation which include computerisation of land records, registration, income tax, commercial taxes among others. |

"Institutes like IIM-A and MDI, Gurgaon, will be associated in a knowledge partnership and will take up roles of project leaders and validators for the e-governance projects implemented by the department of IT," said R Chandrashekhar, Additional Secretary, Department of IT, Govt of India. |

It is estimated that the validations will take around three to six months to complete and will see an allotment of around Rs 40-50 lakh in the first phase by the goverment and around Rs 2 crore in all. |

Earlier, the department had invited bids from research, marketing agencies and institutes to conduct third party assessment of its national-level projects on e-governance. |
|
Parties identified to conduct the assessment include ORG Marg, Development Management Trust, Infrastructure Professionals, Development Research Services, TNS Mode and others. |
