To clear its name from land grab allegations levelled by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s camp, the family of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda will make the details of its assets and properties available online.
The family would make available details of their assets public, by hosting them in a website, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy said even as he denied the land grab charges against the Gowda family, seeing it as an attempt to malign them.
The “baseless” charges by B J Puttaswamy, the political secretary of the chief minister, were aimed to put the family in the dock, Kumaraswamy former chief minister and Deve Gowda’s son, said.
Kumaraswamy challenged Yeddyurappa to confiscate all alleged illegally obtained lands and properties by his family members including Deve Gowda.
He said the allegations levelled by Puttaswamy were not new, adding, they had been probed before and were found to be untrue with the family getting a clean chit.
“The BJP leaders are repeating the same allegations now to divert attention from their scams,” he alleged. Charging BJP leaders with making frantic efforts to dig out the past allegations with malafide intentions,Kumaraswamy described their attempt as futile and a “cover-up exercise to get away from already facing corruption and nepotism charges.”
Yeddyurappa and Deve Gowda family are engaged in a running battle over land scam allegations with each camp threatening to expose more and more dirt about the other.
