Entrepreneur and Rajya Sabha Member Rajeev Chandrashekar today sought special status for Bangalore to improve infrastructure.Chandrashekar, participating in the discussion on budget in Parliament, said: "I am disappointed that the budget says very little about infrastructure development in Karnataka, and Bangalore in particular. The centre generates considerable direct and indirect taxes from our city. Bangalore must be treated just as Mumbai."He urged the government to announce a complete package for infrastructure and urban development to make Bangalore a modern metropolis. "The present and unnecessary controversy of closing down an existing airport points to the lack of a coherent vision for infrastructure and capacity development," he added."I would urge the government to use this opportunity of President's Rule to draw out a comprehensive and practical plan for the city's development. This could be the blueprint for future popular governments to follow," Chandrashekar said.
