While giving this information here on Monday, an official spokesman said that the Ministry of Defence had also issued the requisite No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Ministry of Civil Aviation in this regard. With the setting up of this cargo airport, the commercial activities would get a big boost in the state.
He said that the Ministry of Railways was developing a dedicated freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai, covering a length of 1,483 kilometres. In order to tap the opportunities generated by the freight corridor, a band of 150 kilometres on its both sides is being developed as Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) covering Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The DMIC sub-region in Haryana covers about 29,362 square kilometres, which accounts for 66.4 per cent of the total area of the state.

He said that the DMIC consultants had submitted feasibility reports for the early bird projects of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) between Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal and Integrated Multi-modal Logistics Hub (IMLH) at Bawal in Rewari district.
While IMLH project would be implemented through joint venture between Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and DMIC Trust or DMICDC, MRTS from Gurgaon to Bawal would be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be floated jointly by Haryana MRTS and DMIC Trust or DMICDC. Detailed project report preparation for the MRTS project is underway.
