The special group on targeting 10-million additional jobs per year over the Tenth Plan period is likely to submit its report in the first week of February.
The group was set up last year to suggest strategies and programmes to create gainful employment opportunities for 10 million people a year during 2002-03 to 2006-07. The terms of reference of the group included all relevant studies and recommendations, including the report submitted by the Montek Singh Ahluwalia-headed task force on employment opportunities.
The group was also to look into sectoral issues and policies having a bearing on employment generation and to recommend sectoral programmes for creation of employment opportunities.
