The Gujarat High Court has extended its stay on the interim relief order granted to K Prathap Reddy, director of Institute of Rural Management - Anand (Irma). Earlier, the High Court judge justice Akil Kureshi had stayed order till May 2.

It may be mentioned here that Reddy had filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court on April 8, following his sacking by Verghese Kurien, chairman, Irma.

The High Court had ordered to reinstate Reddy as a director and later stayed the order following an appeal by Kurien's advocates.

"Kurien may approach the divisional bench during this week to challenge the Gujarat High Court ruling against him. Kurien's lawyers had asked for an extension of the stay order saying that they wanted more time to study the order as they had received it late," said Dhaval Dave, Reddy's advocate.

Kurien was not reachable for his comments.
