Gujarat Info Interconnects State Power Board Offices

Gujarat Info Petro, a state government firm, has completed the first phase of interconnectivity at Gujarat Electricity Board. The head office of the electricity board at Vadodara has been connected to other offices enabling video-conferencing, data transmission, data sharing.

The wide area network (WAN) project for the electricity board was tested by the state chief minister Narendra Modi at Vadodara conducting a multi-conferencing session with officials at zonal levels and the Gandhinagar TPS recently.

The project aimed at connecting all the zonal offices at Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Mehsana, Gandhinagar TPS and Wanakbori TPS to the head office in order to offer video, voice and data connectivity.

In the phase two, the project will aim at connecting all the circle offices, transmission circle offices and remaining TPSs.

Phase three has been envisaged to connect the divisional and sub-divisional offices.

Employed with state-of-the-art technologies and expertise deployed in the information business, Gujarat Info is spreading rapidly across the state and is poised to offer high speed internet, voice over internet protocol (VOIP), video conferencing, virtural private networks (VPNs), broadband, and infotainment services.

Founded in January 2001, the company has two satellite earth stations installed at two major points in Ahmedabad and Surat, with a category-A Internet service provider (ISP) licence.
