ssenger cars.  The major units involved in auto components are Echjay Industries, Mahindra SAR Auto, Banco Products,Amul Industries, Bhavani Industries, Galaxy Bearings, etc. The state has proposed four projects as far as the auto industry in concerned totalling Rs 294 crore.
  • Rs 130 crore project to manufacture pre-engineered Steel Buildings with capacity of 1,00,000 TPA at Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar
  • Rs 10 crore project to make auto components with capacity of 100,000 components per month at Rajkot
  • Rs 4 crore project for manufacturing forged auto components with capacity of around 1,200 TPA in Rajkot
  • Rs 150 crore project of the automobile assembly unit, primarily for passenger cars with capacity of 2,000 cars per year at Kutch
  •  Engineering  Gujarat has been the manufacturing base for MNCs such as Sandvik Asia, FAG Bearings, Ingersoll Rand/Dresser Rand, ABB, Hitachi, etc.  Various engineering industries are spread all over Gujarat - castings and forgings (Ahmedabad, Rajkot,Vadodara), brass parts (Jamnagar), diesel engines and parts (Rajkot), textile machinery parts (Surat,Surendranagar), automobile components (Ahmedabad, Rajkot), machine tools (Rajkot), air and gas compressors (Ahmedabad) and industrial valves (Ahmedabad).  The Gujarat government has proposed three projects for the engineering sector, which total Rs 380 crore.
  • Rs 170 crore unit to manufacture high pressure cylinders for CNG auto kits and industrial applications with suggested plant capacity of 5,00,000 cylinders per year including large cylinders in Kutch district
  • Rs 200 crore plant to manufacture Longitudinal SAW (LSAW) and Helical SAW (HSAW) pipes at Kutch
  • Rs 10 crore investment casting unit to manufacture components up to 70 kg and size up to 450 mm diameter with a capacity of 2,400 tpa at Rajkot or Ahmedabad
  •  Cement and Ceramics  Gujarat recorded total reserves of limestone of about 11,897 million tonne. The main limestone reserves being the districts of Amreli, Kutch, Kheda, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Panchmahal, Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha and Porbandar.  The state procures soda ash from leading suppliers such as GHCL, Tata Chemicals, Saurashtra Chemicals, Nirma Chemicals Works and Dhanghdhra.  The cement and ceramics industry has received three proposals from the government, of which, two are for cement and one for ceramics totalling an investment of Rs 639.5 crore.
  • Rs 600 crore project to set up a 2.4 million tpa cement plant in Kutch
  • Rs 3.5 crore project to set up a unit for ready mix concrete for the construction sector with suggested plant capacity of 60 cubic metre in the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar region
  • Rs 36 crore Float Glass manufacturing unit with 200 mt per day capacity at either Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surendranagar or Kutch
