Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) living in the UAE and other Gulf countries will be able to procure Permanent Account Number from a PAN Card Centre, opened recently in Muscat.

The centre, inaugurated by the India's Ambassador to Oman, Anil Wadhawa, at Muscat will also offer other tax-related services to non-residents and foreign nationals living in the region.

Jointly promoted by Oman-based Alankit Management Consultancy and Integrated Middle East Project, the centre will process PAN applications, a statement said.

Inaugurating the centre, Wadhawa said that the venture would help in providing tax-related services to the non-residents at their doorstep in Muscat.

In addition to processing PAN applications, the centre will also offer services like correction in PAN, acceptance of Annual Information Report (AIR) and registration of PAN holder for viewing annual tax statements, the release said.

The venture, said Alok Kumar Agarwal, proprietor of Alankit Consultancy, "Would benefit thousands of NRIs, PIOs and Indian residents who had to previously avail the PAN Card and related facilities at exorbitant cost."
