Direct flight and bus service between Dhaka and Guwahati and a Bangladeshi visa office in the region are among the 25 "concrete" proposals that the Bangladeshi corporate sector has put forward to India for facilitating enhanced economic and trade relation between North-East India and Bangladesh.
"I am here to see how we can cooperate and build economic relation between Bangladesh and North-East India. We need India to move on the issues of air connectivity. We are ready to move on these proposals on our side," said Farooq Sobhan, former Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India and present president of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute here today on the sidelines of 4th North-East Business Summit, jointly organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ministry for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER).
He added that proposals for opening of a visa office in Guwahati have been submitted to the ministry of external affairs by the Bangladeshi side.
Concrete proposals will be instrumental in expanding the cooperation between the Bangladesh and North-East.
