Explaining about the institute and the courses offered by it, Hamstech's director Ajita Yogesh said that the five-year-old institute had so far trained over 300 students who were placed in reknowned garment manufacturers such as Stanza, Pokharna Manufacturing and Impero Stores.
The guests of honour at the function were Arbaz Khan, the model and actor and his wife Malaika Arora Khan, herself an actress, model and fashion expert.
Arbaz Khan, who is also the elder brother of Salman Khan, advised the students to take up the fashion design profession with seriousness as the industry offers immense opportunities. Malaika announced she would soon open a clothing company.
Hamstech Institute offers two diploma courses in fashion design, one in textile design and three courses in interior design. It is affiliated to Mumbai-based SNDT University, which is one of the oldest universities in the country, established in 1916.
The certificates for diploma courses in textile design and interior design are awarded by the university. The institute has a tie up with Stanza, the Pokarna group's branded garments showroom which provides internship to students.
