Haryana incentive to boost wheat cultivation

To boost productivity of wheat and mustard in the state, the Haryana government has decided to provide incentives to the farmers, which include huge subsidy on various agriculture inputs and farm implements.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the agriculture department said more than 8.5 lakh quintal of certified wheat seeds and 18,446 quintal of certified seeds of mustard were sold to the farmers on subsidised rates during the current season as against 6.30 lakh quintal of wheat seeds and 17,500 quintal of mustard seeds sold during the last year.

The subsidy on wheat and mustard certified seeds had been increased during the current rabi season, said the spokesman, adding that in case of wheat, subsidy had been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 700 per quintal and in case of mustard, it had been increased from Rs 1,200 per quintal to Rs 2,000 per quintal.
