The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (Hareda) has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with six independent power producers (IPPs) to generate solar energy of 12 Mw with an investment of about Rs 240 crore.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda called upon the IPPs to commission the systems at the earliest and assured them all help. After signing the MoUs with Hareda, these firms will prepare detailed project reports in two months.

The projects will be implemented and commissioned by December 31 next year.

The MoUs have been signed with R S India Wind Energy, New Delhi, and Astonfield Renewable Resources, Kolkata, for setting up solar power projects of 3 Mw each; with Epuron Renewable Energy, New Delhi, and Azure Power India, New Delhi, for setting up solar power projects of 2 Mw each.

The investment in the projects to be done with R S India Wind Energy and Astonfield Renewable Resources will cost about Rs 60 crore each and those with Epuron Renewable Energy and Azure Power India about Rs 40 crore each.

In addition to these, MoUs had also been signed with Omax Auto, Gurgaon, and Selecto Systems, Faridabad, for setting up solar power projects of 1 Mw as a special case as these projects, being the rooftop installation ones, did not require any purchase of land. These could be commissioned in a shorter span of time and showcased for replication in other industries.

The projects will be set up at about Rs 20 crore each.

Principal Secretary and Financial Commissioner (Power and Renewable Energy) Ashok Lavasa said all these six projects would be set up by these power developers by December next year with an investment of about Rs 240 crore.

Lavasa said Haryana was one of the first few states in the country to have taken the initiative to set up projects based on solar energy on a megawatt scale.

Hareda had invited proposals from IPPs for setting up solar power projects in the state under the central tariff subsidy scheme. The Centre will provide a generation-based incentive of a maximum of Rs 12 per Kwh to the eligible projects.
