The Haryana government has decided to set up two major accident hazards control cells at Panipat and Gurgaon and for the first time, two industrial hygiene laboratories would be established at Gurgaon and Faridabad.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Haryana Labour Department said accident hazards control cells are aimed at ensuring safety and welfare of the workers and Rs 1.63 crore have been sanctioned for the purpose. The main function of these cells would be to receive information from the public on major accidents occurring in factories and to frame necessary measures that might be taken in a time-bound manner.
He said that the government had also sanctioned Rs 85 lakh to purchase equipment and to establish industrial hygiene laboratories. This will go a long way for the benefit of the industrial workers.
With a view to encourage employment of women in the information technology and IT-enabled industries in the state, permission under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1958 has been extended for women to work in night shifts with mandatory mechanism for adequate protection during working hours and for employers to take full responsibility for the security and transportation of their women employees.
A bicycle is being provided free of cost to the industrial worker who has earned monthly wages up to Rs 5,000.
