Haryana to start electronic payment of road tax

The e-payment service will be made available to motor vehicle owners who also hold an Internet banking account with SBI

Haryana Transport Department has decided to launch e-payment service for payment of road tax by the owners of transport vehicles and SMS-back facility
 
This was stated by Haryana Transport Commissioner, Sumita Misra while addressing one-day workshop-cum-training programme organized by the Department for the Secretaries of Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) and their staff regarding implementation of the Vahan and Saarthi Software, and e-Services here today.

She said that Vahan and Saarthi  software have been implemented in all the 79 Registering and Licensing Authorities in the State. The additional services available in these softwares would now also be provided by the Registering and Licensing Authorities.
           
Misra said that under e-payment service, the motor vehicle owners would be able to pay the quarterly road tax of their transport vehicles through the website of the department using their SBI internet banking account. She said that under SMS-back facility the citizens depositing any fee or tax in the offices of Registering and Licensing Authorities for obtaining various services would be sent back an SMS acknowledging receipt of the amount. To avail the benefits of this facility, the citizens would be required to mention their mobile number on the application form submitted in the offices for this purpose.
          
She informed that the Department has also prepared its websiteharyanatransport.gov.in which offers informational and functional services to the citizens. The citizens could refer to the website with regard to the procedures for registering of motor vehicles, issue of driving licenses and grant of permit. Various types of forms required for obtaining services from the Transport Department could also be downloaded from the website.
