The Gujarat High Court judge Justice Kamal Mehta adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by B M Vyas, a member of board of governors of Institute of Rural Management Anand (Irma), till May 3. |
Meanwhile, advocates of Vyas filed a rejoinder in response to the questions raised by K Prathap Reddy, director of Irma during the last hearing. |
Last month, Vyas, along with three other board members, had challenged the order of B P Hadia, joint charity commissioner (JAC) Vadodara, who upheld the opinion of assistant charity commissioner (AAC) Anand, Bakula Waghela. JAC had also allowed Reddy and five disputed board members to hold board meeting on April 1. |
The AAC had questioned the lifetime chairmanship of Varghese Kurien earlier. Following which, Reddy who is also a member secretary of Irma board had raised the issue in the Irma board meeting held on February 28. |
Kurien had summoned the board meeting on February 28 to sack Reddy. "We have filed a rejoinder today responding to the questions raised by advocates of Reddy. We have stated that five of the persons who had attended February 28 meeting were unlawfully present there. |
"We have also contended that the minutes of the board meetings taken by Reddy have fallacies and the business conducted in the meeting was to remove Kurien from his chair," said Saurabh Amin, advocate for B M Vyas. |
