The Calcutta High Court today granted conditional anticipatory bail to former West Bengal Minister and CPI(M) leader Susanta Ghosh, who was apprehending arrest for a Trinamool Congress worker missing since 2002 in West Midnapore district.

Ghosh, who was not present in court and represented by his counsel, prayed for anticipatory bail following an FIR against him and others, after seven skeletons were dug up near his ancestral property in West Midnapore district on June 4.

A Division Bench of Justice Girish Chandra Gupta and Justice R N Bhattacharya granted Ghosh's bail petition on condition that he did not enter the district without permission of the judicial magistrate, inform the investigating officer about his movement and respond to court summons. The court ordered that the judicial magistrate would enjoy the right to cancel the anticipatory bail if the conditions were violated. A Trinamool Congress supporter's son had filed the FIR against the former minister, CPI(M) leaders Imtiaz Ali and Tarun Roy at the Keshpur police station which was transferred on June 8 to the Anandpur police station.
