The Delhi High Court yesterday adjourned till May 15 the hearing on a petition filed by Bennett Coleman and Company Limited chairman Ashok Jain, proprietor of the Times of India group of publications. The petition seeks to quash the raids carried out by the Enforcement Directorate at his residence earlier this year.
Counsel for the Enforcement Directorate told the court that the agency now wanted to record the statement of Ashok Jain, who is at present recovering in a hospital in Mumbai. Jains counsel told the court that the statement could be recorded in the hospital.
However, the ED counsel said that the agency would record the statement only after Jain fully recovered from his illness.
