Hegde Not Averse To Bjp Support

Talking to newsmen here Hegde said: I will welcome the support of anyone and any party to fight corruption. He said the present situation was akin to that of 1974, when the famous Jaya Prakash Narayan movement for total revolution was launched. I am sorry to state that Bihar, which has always shown the way to the country to launch a movement against corruption, has become a passive spectator, Hegde said.

The former Janata Dal leader said he had come to Patna to solicit support for his crusade against corruption. Hegde said he could not understand as to how the politically conscious people of Bihar were sitting idle when such a big scandal (fodder scam) had taken place in the state. Those involved in the racket are shameless since they have even eaten fodder meant for cattles and birds.

According to him, corruption has become all pervasive since the executive and judiciary has become impotent. He hailed the role of the judiciary and the media to set things right, much to the chagrin of the national Janata Dal president, Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Asked whether the Chief Minister should resign following the stricture passed by the PHC, Hegde said : Who could ask Yadav to resign? He will say with authority that he made Deve Gowda the Prime Minister and how can he sack me.

Hegde suggested that the Bihar Chief Minister should take lessons from him. I have resigned on four occasions following slightest charges of corruption levelled against me.
