Mysore’s new Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta has directed all government offices in the district to open up help desks to provide people with required information relating to their offices. He has also asked the officers to come out with citizens’ charter highlighting the services provided to the public in their offices.

A help desk has already been opened in the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Giving the above directions after a public grievances redressal meeting here, the Deputy Commissioner said the officers, particularly those coming into public contact more frequently, should give priority for establishing help desks and publishing citizens’ charter. The help desks should be located at the entrance of their offices so that visitors could get proper information easily.

He asked the taluk and district level officers to stay in their offices on all Mondays and make available themselves to the public for giving information they seek from their offices. He said the officers should abide by the circular issued by the state government in this regard without fail.

Harsh Gupta asked them to continue with the public contact programme on every first Saturday of the month in the same manner as conducted earlier. The public interaction programme conducted on every third Wednesday of the month in the Deputy Commissioner’s office will be instead conducted on every third Thursday of the month. Complaints will be received over telephone also and action will be taken to resolve them, he said.

He also brought to the attention of the officers the Supreme Court direction to shift religious erections put up in public places and asked them to take appropriate steps.
