High level meeting on Paradip refinery next week

 This was revealed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik on his return from New Delhi. Patnaik, who met Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee during his stay in the Capital said the committee will meet next week at New Delhi.

 The hopes of revival of nine million tonne Paradip refinery, which was hanging fire for last three years, has been rekindled following the assurance by Prime Minister Vajpayee that the work on the project will start soon.

 The chief minister said he has assured the Centre that the state government will extend all cooperation for early implementation of the project. He said, he has also discussed the issue with petroleum minister Ram Naik and requested him for early follow up action by his ministry.

 The chief minister also requested the Prime Minister to expedite the implementation of special road network project for rural connectivity in the backward Kalahandi, Bolangir and Koraput districts, recently announced by him.

 A comprehensive project report has already been prepared by the state government and made available to the Planning Commission in this regard.

 The Prime Minister's office indicated that a high level meeting is expected to be convened by the cabinet secretary on the matter shortly to finalize the necessary funding arrangement and implementation strategy.
