Himachal highways to be decongested

A big bottleneck on the highway connecting Parwanoo, a prominent industrial town in Himachal Pradesh, and Kalka, Haryana, may soon be removed by constructing a bypass. This was announced by A K Mahapatra, additional secretary, ministry of surface transport.
 
The Kalka"�Shimla National Highway 21 is considered the busiest highway in Himachal Pradesh and passes through the industrial town of Parwanoo and other popular tourist spots like Kasauli, Solan, Chail, and Shimla.
 
The 87-km road is considered the broadest and smoothest among hill highways in the country, but for a small patch between Kalka and Parwanoo, where jams take place for long hours.
 
Speaking about making the Kalka"�Shimla road a four-lane highway, Mahapatra said the Union surface transport ministry was considering the Rs 700-crore project.
