Himachal Pradesh has so far incurred a loss of Rs 355 crore this season due to incessant rainfall.
“The prolonged rains have caused a loss of Rs 355 crore. The highest is in Kangra district — Rs 74 crore, followed by Kullu — Rs 67 crore, Mandi — Rs 65 crore and in Shimla almost Rs 45 crore,” said Gulab Singh, HP’s PWD minister here today.
“The rains have also resulted in a loss of 39 human lives and 2,274 cattle heads have also perished. Around 3,811 houses and crops worth Rs 103 crore have been damaged,” he said.
Loss of over Rs 251 crore has been caused to public property of the PWD and IPH departments. All district commissioners and departments have been asked to prepare detailed reports of damage caused due to rain by September 15.
A total of Rs 30 crore has been released to the PWD and Rs 2.5 crore to IPH for carrying out repair works of damaged infrastructure, Singh added.
