The state roadways of Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring Uttaranchal have signed a pact enabling them to allow buses to ply in each other's territories.

An agreement was signed between the Himachal Pradesh Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) and Uttaranchal Transport Corporation(UTRC) on Tuesday, an HRTC spokesman said here Thursday.

According to the agreement, buses will be allowed to ply on 8,000 km on both sides of the hill states. Until now buses were only plying on temporary permits, often causing inconvenience to the commuters.
